Chicago, the most populous city in Illinois, and third-most populous in the country, is known for its cultural contributions to art, theater, novels, film, and music. It is also known as the Windy City because of the weather conditions there.

While many new residents build new homes to take advantage of the city’s culture, those who are aware of the climate changes in Chicago know well enough that you don’t finish your basement until you know it’s sealed.

The third most populous city in the US, Chicago's metropolitan are, called Chicagoland, is home to 9.5 million people. A cultural powerhouse that has contributions in visual arts, films, novels, theater, and music, Chicago is also known as "The Windy City" and has pro teams in each major professional league.  

Large and windy, Chicago residents also find themselves at the mercy of its extreme weather changes. Summers can be hot, winters freezing, while thunderstorms are common during spring and summer. These weather changes can wreck havoc in basements, causing moisture issues and, at times, flooding.
