In Burr Ridge, a homeowner needed a solution for water intrusion but faced an important challenge. Their basement was already finished, and they wanted to protect the space without removing finished walls or disrupting the interior of their home. An exterior waterproofing system provided a way to address water entering the foundation from the outside.
Our team excavated along the affected foundation wall to gain access from the exterior. Once exposed, we applied a waterproof membrane to seal the foundation and added a dimpled waterproofing barrier for additional protection. Drainage stone was installed to help manage groundwater and allow it to flow efficiently through the drainage system rather than collecting against the foundation.
We also installed an exterior sump pump to collect and remove water from around the foundation. When the waterproofing membrane, drainage system, and sump pump work together, water can be managed before it has a chance to enter the basement.
The result is a comprehensive exterior waterproofing system that protects the homeowner’s finished basement without requiring the interior walls to be removed. By addressing water issues outside the home, our team was able to preserve the finished living space while providing long-term protection against future water intrusion.
