Chicago’s Ignatia House Completes Learning Lab With the Support of Perma-Seal

Ignatia House's Small Group Home Provides Refuge for Women Recovering From Alcoholism

Burr Ridge, Ill., September 27, 2021 --- Perma-Seal, the most trusted basement waterproofing and foundation repair experts serving the greater Chicagoland area and Northwest Indiana, is honored to have partnered with Ignatia House, a small group home for women recovering from alcoholism and substance abuse, to permanently fix the flooding and drainage issues within their basement.

With Perma-Seal's financial support and basement waterproofing services, Ignatia House was able to move forward with plans to create a healthy, dry space to further serve the women of Ignatia House, past and present. The completed basement now includes the Bernau Family Foundation Learning Lab which features computers and a lounge space where women can take business training classes, conduct job searches, paint, meditate, and unwind.

"The Learning Lab has been a dream of ours for a very long time, and Perma-Seal gave us the opportunity to make that dream a reality," said Ann Shanahan, Ignatia House. "The Learning Lab, and what happens in it, will forever impact the women and families of Ignatia House, and that would have never been possible without the support of Perma-Seal."

"One of the things that is already starting to blossom is the residents of Ignatia House are not only looking forward to the classes in the Learning Lab, but they're looking forward to teaching the classes," said Patti Firman, Ignatia House co-Chair Board Member. "The women will take the skills they learn in the classes and enrich their lives and the lives of those around them."

Perma-Seal's driving purpose - to make the world a better place for Tribal Members, Customers, Partners and Communities they serve - is supported by their six Core Values. The Core Value, 'We are compassionate,' resonates in Perma-Seal's partnership with Ignatia House.

"It is a tremendous feeling knowing that Perma-Seal played a role in the completion of the Bernau Family Foundation Learning Lab. I am so proud of our team who clearly exhibit our core value 'We are compassionate'," said Laura Ann Spencer, Perma-Seal Executive Vice President. "We are always seeking opportunities to use our time, talent, and means to improve the quality of life for friends, neighbors, and communities at large. Through the Perma-Seal Community Foundation, we are able to support many root-cause issues, including the amazing work of Ignatia House. The services Ignatia House provides and the women who begin their sober living journey there are truly inspiring,"
