Basement Waterproofing

Interior Basement Wall Crack Repair in Capron

Your basement is an important part of the home whether it is being used for storage or if you have a finished space down there. Due to this, it is important that the area is free of standing water and excess humidity and flooding are controlled. Since water can get into a basement through a variety of possible places, there needs to be a variety of repair solutions and products that we can utilize to keep the water under control. The main places that we find water leaking is through cracks in the walls, which are usually in concrete or at mortar joints between blocks, at the cove joint, where the wall and floor connect, and finally at windows that are at or even below grade.

No matter where the problem lies we've got solutions that will collect, transport, and remove water from the basement. If there are leaky basement cracks, the first step is installing a wall crack repair method to prevent the crack from growing and leaking. When water is entering at the cove or even at your windows, installing a custom drainage system will help remove the water from the basement. In some extreme cases, typically with old homes that have stone, block, or brick foundations, we can install one of our entire wall solution that is a floor to ceiling heavy duty liner to collect and divert water. Occasionally there is already a waterproofing system in the basement but it is unable to keep up with flooding water, we can replace it with a new, upgraded sump pump to help the system keep up with the demand. We aren't just installing systems, we can also help you upgrade the drainage in the yard to help prevent water from sitting at the foundation and seeping in.

Structural Foundation Repair

Bowing Basement Wall in Capron

Your homes foundation is easily one of, if not the, most important parts. It not only holds the building itself but it also is the basement walls. When you've got foundation problems, normally they will manifest themselves in the form of diagonal cracks in the brickwork, horizontal cracks that run the length of the foundation or across basement walls. You may also notice that the windows and doors will get stuck or there may be cracks at the corners of them. There may also be a problem where the basement walls are pressing inward. While these problems may not seem critical at first, they are all indicative of a sinking or settling foundation and they should be evaluated by an expert for specific problems to determine if a repair needs to be performed.

It is good that the most common foundation problems stem from similar issues and our team is very good at spotting those problems. We can utilize a repair product intended for your exact problem to permanently repair and stabilize the foundation. If there is a uneven foundation, we can install a system of foundation piers to stabilize the foundation. Depending on how bad it is and where it is, we will use either helical piers or push piers. Both are very strong and can help stabilize your foundation. If your basement walls are bowing, depending on how badly the wall is bowing, it can be solved with a few different options. Our team can utilize a series of wall anchors, these are 2 large plates that are connected by a long, steel rod, or c shaped braces that we mount directly against the problem area to push them back in line and stop further bowing, or carbon fiber staples to strengthen along cracks and prevent the wall from bowing. These products can repair the bowed wall and prevent it from coming out of alignment again.

Crawl Space Solutions

Crawl Space Encapsulation in Capron

In our area, there are many homes that are built with crawl spaces in addition to basements. For a long time, they were created with vents to the outside where were intended to help fresh air flow into the area and keep it dry. Unfortunately, this is rarely what happens. The vents allow water to enter the space when it rains or snows and then it never leaves which causes the humidity levels to stay high which will eventually foster the growth of mildew. Studies have shown that up to ½ of the air in your home has come up through the crawl space so having the space closed off from the outside and keeping the humidity levels low can increase the overall air quality in your home.

We have been enclosing crawl spaces since 1979 and we know the best way to close them off and control excess humidity. We do this using a process called encapsulation which is the installation of a thick liner or vapor barrier, occasionally installed with insulation products, which are thick plastic and vinyl sheets as well as covers to close off existing vents and a sturdy door that can seal the area completely and prevent any excess moisture from entering. Encapsulation will also prevent critters and animals from settling in the crawl space which will help keep any items there safe and allow you to use it for storage. After the crawl space is encapsulated, we can install an air quality control system which is a dehumidifier and air filter. It will control any excess humidity in addition to removing pollutants from the air.

Additional Services

We also provide a variety of services to help improve your basement area. We carry basement windows to increase the air flow or increase the amount of light in the area. During basement waterproofing, we can help with pre-finishing the area by installing a wall system that is both waterproof as well as resistant to mildew growth. When you are building a new home, our new construction waterproofing solutions can prevent any water from entering the home before it can become a problem. Even if you've already got a waterproofing system in place, we can perform our preventive maintenance inspection to ensure it continues to work at peak efficiency.
