A suburban municipality in Lake County, Illinois, Highland Park was founded in 1869 with just 500 residents. Today, it has evolved to become home to nearly 30,000. Park of the Chicago metropolitan area, it is located just 23 miles north of downtown Chicago.
While Chicago is known as the Windy City, Highland Park may just as well be called the same since it shares a similar climate. With harsh winters and thunderstorms common in spring and summer, it isn’t hard to imagine many a crawl space in Highland Park being inundated with water.
