HUMIDITY & CONDENSATION
THE PROBLEM
Even when a basement has been “waterproofed” and does not get any seepage; it can remain a damp, smelly environment. This is because of the naturally occurring humidity that is derived from building a concrete structure in the ground and then heating the interior. In Chicagoland, the earth outside below the frost level remains approx. 55 degrees year round. Since your basement is typically kept at 65-70 degrees, the coolness transmitted through the concrete floor and walls meets the warm basement air creating humidity and that damp feeling. High humidity is conducive to mold growth and the active molds spores produce the musty odor so often associated with basements.
THE SOLUTION
A dehumidifier is the answer, but not just any dehumidifier. Most 40 pint appliances sold in dept. stores may run constantly and still not keep up with the amount of humidity being produced. Our SaniDry Basement Air System on the other hand takes up to 100 pints of water per day out of the basement air while using the same energy as a 40 pint dehumidifier. In addition, the SaniDry filters particles out of the air less than an incredible two microns in size – which is smaller than any mold spore or dust mite dropping! The SaniDry system wrings your air dry, removes odors and improves the air quality throughout your basement space. Our customers have told us that they really enjoy their dry basement environment after having a SaniDry installed.
